Gratitude

I am thankful for the opportunity to teach yoga, my puppy pumpkin, the fact that I live in a place surrounded by nature where I hear the birds sing every morning and the coyotes howl every night.  I am thankful that I get to marry the man of my dreams in 149 days. I am thankful that I am healthy, that I'm able to practice yoga, run, hike, and bike ride. I am thankful that Nate has a good job and that I'm a little bit closer everyday.

I turned 24 last week. I was not happy about it. Nate has so generously volunteered to take the year for me, so now he's 24 and I'm still 23. I was even more bummed out because he was in San Diego for the past 3 weeks, including on my birthday. I wasn't psyched about spending the day alone, but it turned out to be quite fantastic.

I gave myself permission to do all the things I normally wouldn't due to money constraints.  I spent over an hour at my favorite nursery in Calabasas.  It's like a little oasis of buddha statues, flowers, herbs, and trees.  As of late, I have become OBSESSED with my balcony. I will go into more details with pictures soon, but basically it's become my baby. It's filled to the brim with herbs, vegetables, citrus trees, and even an Avocado tree named Fred which I adopted from Lisal and Scott. I've decided when we own a house and settle down one day (not soon) I want to have a giant garden and grow all of our own fruits and vegetables. Oh, and I want to have chickens too. I am a big fan of eggs and I think getting eggs from our very own chickens would basically be the coolest thing ever. The fact that I now teach yoga Saturday mornings at a Farmer's Market and get tipped in fresh fruits/vegges every week has only channeled this obsession. More on the later.

So anyway, I bought some hanging plants for our balcony. I went on an interview, took myself out to lunch at my favorite - Corner Bakery. I got a Calabasas library card and rented cookbooks and motivational yoga books. I took a nap in the sun with my new flowers, and then went and got Chicken Tikka Masala at the best Indian place with Lisal. It was a good day.

In other news, Nate and I celebrated our 4 year anniversary.  Weird to think we'll have to wait over 5 years till our 5 year anniversary. We went to dinner in Malibu at a fancy place over-looking the water, it was a bit too posh for our taste, but the food was good. Malibu has become our favorite place.
