Brie, Wolves, & The Invisible Circus

We got out of class earlier yesterday, so some friends and I went into town.  We ate gelato at our favorite place across the river, then went to an amazing dinner.

As an appetizer we had, brace yourself, fried brie.  It tasted something like heaven.
Then I had risotto with pear, where else can you get that?! No where but Italy.
And even more exciting a found a wine I loved!  It's a rossee and quite perfect.  And a label not found in the states according to my sommelier friend, so I bought a bottle to take home with me.

We ate at an outside cafe-type place that supposedly only the locals know about.  It's tucked away in a small square on the other side of the river.
(I'm finding "the other side of the river" to have less tourists and better food).
It was lovely.

So as we're eating we look over and see this man walking a dog?  And our first instinct is "that is not a dog".  I knew the moment I saw its cat-like, animalistic eyes, with the long slit.  It had giant ears, and the moment we saw it move, we knew this was no dog.  It was too wild.  We were convinced it was a wolf, and as my friend passed by the man when we left dinner she commented it, saying to the owner,
"your dog is beautiful"
He responded with a smile and said,

"Its not dog. It's wolf."

Crazy.  Even crazier, he was somewhat domesticated, it wore a leash, and sat when presented with food.  But it had a graceful wildness that dogs just don't have.  And those eyes.
Here he is:

After dinner we joined our commedia class and teachers for The Invisible Circus.
It was a good show.  Parts were incredible cheesy and dumb, and parts were beautiful.
The show didn't even start till 9:30, and apparently in Europe its customary to come out onstage after a performance, bow, leave the stage, then come back and bow, approximately 10 times.  Oh and there are encores in theatre here.  I was pissed.  By 11:45, and the third encore I was getting pretty restless.  Gotta love American theatre, short and sweet.

Here's another picture of the Villa I live in.  Sometimes I just can't get over how beautiful it is here.

I am beginning to think that choosing to study abroad is one of the best desicions I've ever made.
