The wait continues....

17 days, 6 hours, and 12 minutes.
The wait is agonizing when I keep getting emails from the breeder with pictures this cute every week!

And look, she's even posing in Dogward Facing Dog... that's my girl!

The Dress

Nowadays class rings aren't very important, barely anyone gets them anymore, especially not in college.
Well this is not so with military schools, they not only get class rings, but they spends hundreds if not thousands on them!
Personally, I think its silly.
But, whatever floats your boat.

Well, not only do these military schools throw such a hooplah over these rings, they also thow a ball.  Literally, a ball.  Two hundred dollar tickets, open bar, formal gowns, nicest uniforms, ball in honor of these rings.
Silly, right?
Silly, but it just so happens my love goes to a military school, and it just so happens he's now a first classman.  (And to think I was with him when he was a mere pleabe), and it just so happens August 20th is this massively huge ball in a beautiful manhattan venue!
Awesome.

So I'm kind of excited.
And my excitment quadrupled today when I got a bangin' deal on this beautiful dress at Century 21.
Originally $698!  I got it for less than a quarter of that!

Coney Island

I'm in New York, it's summertime, and I felt this overwhelming obligation to visit coney island.
Nate and I went on a tuesday, so we may not have gotten the full summer weekend flavor, but we still got all the flavor we need.

It would be mean to say it was trashy, but it kind of was.  Trashy in a flavorful, bygone era type of way.
There was something historical about it, like it hadn't changed in over fifty years.
It was fun, and exactly how you would imagine it.
Games, rides, carnivals, hot dogs, "shoot the freak", and lots of jersey shore looking, dried up beach bums.

The beach itself was...dangerous?  Glass everywhere!  I picked up around 10 pieces just in the area we were laying.  Broken bottles, dangerous.  And as humid as hell, but that's just New York.  I am infinatly greatful for my air conditioning.

We took the subway an hour out there for just $2.25.  The station was pretty awesome. Huge, beachy, old.
We played uno and watched Its Me or the Dog on my ipod.
Not actually Ruby's.

Let me take a moment to discuss "Shoot the Freak"- the definition of class.  Now, I love New York, and don't mean any offense, but when I witnessed a meat-head pay 60 dollars cash to get a few paintball shots at an even meatier headed shirtless tattooed man, I realized something is wrong with humanity.

I may be above Shoot the Freak, but I will never be above classic American junk food.

Paint & Pups

Since I'll be living here another year, Nate and I decided to paint my room!
It's a nice purple.  And I love it!

Before

Nate looks way cute in his darma suit.

 After!

If you look closely you'll see Charles, the cavalier stuffed animal Nate sent me while he was away at sea last september.  He is temporarily holding pumpkin's place in her crate before she arrives.

In 23 agonizing days I get to bring home this little one.
And let me tell you, I have never seen a cuter pup in my life!
I am so lucky!

Today

Today I learned:
We need a little tapas to remind us why we are alive.
The more you love someone the more intensely they can disappoint you.
Yoga significantly improves my quality of life.

Today I saw:
A woman riding an electronic wheelchair with a man on her lap holding a guitar.
A homeless man doubtfully examining what he had written on his piece of cardboard.
...
Today I won an H&M bag filled with goodies and a $30 gift card, last week I won a $25 starbucks gift card.  And right before I left in May I won an ipod.  In one month I will have a little puppy, I live in New York City, I can go to yoga everyday for free with my job, and am pretty dang sure I've met the person I want to spend the rest of my life with.
I am a lucky girl.

London..finally.

I finally finished unpacking!
I know, its been 10 days, but when your entire life is shoved in a closet for your subletter, and you packed rather...quickly...before you left it can feel like moving in again.

Good news, Ashley and I renewed out lease!
The beautiful beautiful management office of Stuytown only raised our rent the necessary 3% this year, the lowest its been raised since 2001. (Thank you!!!)
So I won't be moving to the dreaded Brooklyn and we will be in our lovely little apt until August 2011.
After that I could honestly be anywhere!
Its scary how "real-life" is steadily approaching.  I'll never feel ready, not until I have that bangin job that both gives me satisfaction in life and enough money to live without worries.

In other news, one month from yesterday may just be one of the happiest days of my life because I get to bring home this little cutie!
The five hour drive down to Virginia to get her may also be the longest of my life!
I've been preparing for her big time. Researching highly rated vets, heart worm medication, potty training tips, and her little crate is all set up in my room.  I honestly feel like a mother bringing home a baby.

And finally are some London pictures:
I LOVED London.  It's the only city I visited in those six weeks that I could actually imagine living in.
First of all, its SO much like New York, but cleaner, older and British!
Everything reminded me of New York but cuter.
The taxis are cuter, the double decker buses are cuter, even the accents are cuter.  And very modern compared to Paris, Florence and Rome.

 West End

The phone booths

We happened to be there for the London premiere of Twilight.  And my dad did a killer impression of the millions of screaming teenage girls!

Reminds me of New York

The cute cabs.

Big Ben!

The London Eye

We found the Institution of Civil Engineers!

Buckingham Palace

Sweeny.

My illegal picture inside the "Chocolate Room" at Harrod's.  It's an entire room filled with every brand of chocolate in the world. AMAZING.

And the Doggie Bakery inside Pet Kingdom at Harrod's.  The most incredible pet heaven I have ever experience.  I couldn't even afford a bone there, but it was incredible.

Outside Camden Market.  The coolest market I have EVER been to.  If there was one in New York I would be broke.

And my dad holding all the food and bags!
